The debate on the report of the Cost of Living Committee was continued on Moni day night to 2.30 a.m., when the amend- | ment to refer the report bad to the comI mittee for further oSlsideration was carried on the voices. In his reply to criticism, Mr. C. E.' Stat hair., chairman of the committee, said that th& impression created by Sir Joseph Ward that the Consolidated Fund was made up mainly by contributions from the poorer classes and therefore the loss sustained by selling products to people at cheap rates would fail more upon workers than upon other classes, was quite erroneous. ' Mr. A.' E. Glover maintained that the unequal prices of many lines of food in different parts of the Dominion were due I entirely to inefficient distribution.
