TRIBUTE AT ORPHANS' CLUB, e ■. Reference to the death of Sergeant '• David Gallaher, who recently was fjlled J in aotion in France, was made at the j 8 Auckland Orphans' Club on Saturday ~ evening. The president, Mr. C. J. Parr. A M.P., said that Sergeant Gallaher had d been a member of the club for 10 years, 0 during & part of which time he occupied a a position as steward. The deceased sole dier would best be remembered by the i- majority of people in New Zealand as the J captain of the greatest football oombina-K 8 tion that had ever left the shores of the t Dominion—the famous All Black team. In '• that capacity he had won a name that 3 still lived in England. He was a tactful . leader of the game and a gallant gentle- - man. He had been imbued with a great patriotic spirit when he offered his services for King and Empire. Sergeant , Gallaher had been held in the highest esteem by all those who knew him. Mr. Parr moved that the club's sympathy and condolence be extended to his relatives. The vote was carried by members standing in silence. 1 ===========
