' "OUR DAY" APPEAL. ■ In accordance with the request of the i British authorities, & special day, October ■> s 19, has-been set apart for an effort to : ': augment the Red Crass funds. A number 0?,., of "attractions have been arranged. On p -' Thursday next a swimming carnival, arranged by the Auckland Centre of the Few Zealand Amateur Swimming Associa- -., tion, will be held in the tepid baths. The ;:;., following day being "Oar Day," Queen fe Street will be *'en fete." Stalkr'will be S • erected, and there will be several original ;; side-shows., A wizard's cave has been arj* ranged by the Consuls'of the allied nations, ;- r and there will be a wonderland situated yi-gt the corner of Queen and Victoria !-jS Streets. Several decorated vehicles will also tour the suburbs. A donation of {v{. 6000 one shilling tickets has been made by ■- ' the; "proprietors of ; the picture ' theatres Activities will be continued throughout the f.f. month and also during 'the early part of : . November. Special church services will be held on Sunday next. A dance recital will be given by- Miss Beresford and pupils in His Majesty's Theatre on November 8. Other attractions will be a gymkhana by
the Auckland police force, a children's : . lancy dress ball, and a bowling and KO if' tournament, the date* of which will be i announced later.
