HENDERSON GORSE AREA.

' ■♦- , REJECTION OF PROPOSAL. The proposal to enforce a noxious weeds by-law in a special area at Henderson, again came before the Waiteittata County Council at its meeting yesterday. / Mr. W. Oliphant said that as the outcome of complaints that the area as at first mapped out was too large, it then comprising 1600 acres, it had been reduced to 650 acres. He moved that the bylaw be enforced in this area. Air. W. McCathie seconded the motion, stating that it was in accord with the desire of practically all the ratepayers concerned. The chairman, Mr. M. Laing, opposed the motion, on the grounds that the area was still too large. He would support the motion only if the area was reduced to the 100 acres or thereabouts, comprising the township. The motion was lost on the casting vote of the chairman. Mr. Oliphant gave notice that he would have the area still further reduced, and would move at the next meeting that the by-law be enforced.
