CITY DEFEATS NEWTON. | A benefit match under the control of the ] Auckland Rugby League -was played between City and Newton before a large crowd at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon. Brotherhood uefeated North Shore by 4 goals to 2, while Richmond were successful against Everton py the same margin. The Everton A team pas defeated by Devonport Presbyterian at North Shore by 2 goals to 1. Wild Rose met Y.M.C.A. at the Domain, the former team winning by 8 goals to 0.

BROTHERHOOD V. NORTH SHORE. North Shore entered the field with a weak [cam. the absence of Dacre being particularly noticeable. From the kick-off Brotherhood attacked, and after some c'-e7er play in the forward line Lee scored. Shore now settled sown. and the play evened, although the blues were giving a better exhibition of football. Some good combination on the part of the forwards biought the Brotherhood men close to their objective, but Heyes's shot at goal went pver the bar. Shore again attacked, and jorced a corner, which was, however, cleared. The yellow forwards again scored. and Alison opened their score. After another {pel! of give-and-take play, Lee scored for Brotherhood.
