Grey Lynn, 4451; Invercargill, 75,294: Masterton, 26,516 Mataura, 31,802; Oamaru, 30,215; Ohinemuri, 21,307; Wellington South, 11,280; Wellington suburbs and country districts, 11,158; total, 296,009 gallons.

The number of persons summarilv convicted in Magistrates' Courts in no-license districts during the year ended December 31, 1915, is as follows, convictions fur drunkenness being given in parentheses : —Ohinemuri, 273 (30) : Masterton, 297 (68) ; Ashburton. 490 (119) ; Oamaru, 290 (56) ; Bruce, 105 (13); Clutha. 174 (16) : Mataura, 233 (23) ; Invercargill, 828 (154) ; total, 2691 (489). In the course of the discussion, Mr. R. McCallum, the member for Wairau, referred to the large amount of liquor taken into Invercargill, hut the Hon. J A. Hanarf defended his town's reputation, stating that Invercargill, as the chief town of the district, was the distributing centre for liquor, as for other commodities.
