FRENCH-CARRY TRENCH SYSTEM NORTH OF THE AISNE Australian and N.Z. and Router. LONDON. August 16. A French communique states: A vigorous attack south of Ailles, in the Aisne sector, carried a solid enemy trench system on a front of over half-a-mile. Four enemy counter-attacks were easily repulsed.
