The second round of the " Roope's Rooster" tourney, played at Victoria Park on Saturday, produced a fast and interesting game of good spectacular interest throughout. Ponsonby met Newton, the champion team winning the match by 15 points to 6. two converted and one unconverted try. and a penally goal to three penalty goals. PONSONBY V. NEWTON.

Ponsonby and Newton met in the semifinal of the " Roope's Roaster" tourney- The. game wae keen and fast, the interest being maintained right up to the final whistle. Newton were the first to secure points. a free kick in a handy position shortly after th» kick enabling Potier to place a, good goal. Ponsonby retaliated immediately, a rather ragged rush ending- in Rao crossing the line and Walsh converting the try. A further Ponsonby attack was followed by Newton turning the tables, the movement very nearly getting home. A mark followed the clearing kick, and Potier placed his second goal. Following this the exchanges were very even, the play swaying rapidly from one end of the field to the other; and the pace working tip momentarily.
