SOLDIERS' DEPENDANTS.
AFTERNOON ENTERTAINMENT.
Severai, hundred of the wives and mothers of Auckland men on active service were entertained yesterday afternoon in the Town Hall concert chamber by the Soldiers Dependants Committee of the Patriotic League. An interesting address on the work and aims of the Plunket Society was given by Miss Wilson, one of the Plunket nurses, who was introduced by Mrs. J. H. Gunson. The speaker made special reference to the importance of the right feeding and management of young children, and invited all mothers who might be in difficulty with regard to the health of their babies to call and consult the Plunket nurse at the society's rooms in the Strand Arcade. Adjutant Gordon also addressed those present, making special reference to the recent_ large casualty lists, and voicing deep admiration for the -way in which the mothers and wives Were bearing their burden of sorrow. During the afternoon, an enjoyable musical programme was given, including violin and piano solos by Misses I. Glasson and A. Hamon. and a flute solo by Mr. E. Baume. The afternoon concluded with afternoon tea, served by members of the committee".
