RESERVIST FIXED.

A HAN- named Henry Michaels (Mr. Hackett) was charged before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday with making a false statement in his application for enrolment in the National Reserve. A fine of £5 was imposed. THEFT OF CLOTH ADMITTED. Before Messrs. G. J. Garland and C. H. Furness, J.P.'s, Thomas Massicks admitted stealing two lengths of cloth from outside a shop in Karangahape Road. He was described, as an old offender, and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. BREACHES OF BY-LAWS. For cycling on the footpath, George Smith and Herbert R, Colquitt were each fined 5s and 7s costs. The same penalty was imposed upon Cecil Bridgen and William Demler for cutting street corners when driving vehicles. Myer Elias was fined 5s and 7s costs for leaving his cart longer than necessary in Queen Street. Insufficiently lighted vehicles resulted in ' Daniel McCurdy and William Willetts being fined 5s and 7s costs, and Keith Lawfie being ordered to pay 7s costs. For failing to stop his motor-cycle when required by a constable, William tT. Taft was fined £1 and 7s costs. Randolph Tattersall was fined 5s and 7s # costs for leaving a vehicle without chaining the wheeL Isaac S. Hardley, who left a motor unattended in Queen Street without adequate lights, was fined 10s and 14s costs. Henry Michaels was fined 5s and 7s costs for allowing his chimney to catch -fire. M. M. McCallum was similarly fined for leaving his motor-car unattended for more than 15 minutes in Queen Slreet. Reginald Scott was fined 10s and 23s costs for negligently driving a motor-car, and 10s and 7s costs for attempting to force his way through the traffic on the Grafton Bridge" Robert Lloyd was fined 5s and 7s costs for crossing an intersection at other than a walking pace. Frederick Tucker was ordered to pay 7s costs for allowing his horse to wander in the streets.

DEFENCE ACT DEFAULTERS. For failing to render personal service under the Defence Act, Sydney S. Wells was fined £3; Arnold T. Thompson, Alexander B. Mackay, and Patrick R. Hickey £2, and James McNamara £1. E. A Sadgrove was fined 5s and E. Sparnon 10s for failing to notify change of address. The costs were 7s in each instance.

MISCELLANEOUS. For committing a nuisance Daniel Fitzpatrick was sentenced tol4 days hard labour, and for a similar offence. Edward C. Nixon was convicted and discharged. Patrick Sullivan and James Frame were each fined os for drunkenness.
