RUSSIANS CAPTURE FURTHER 6300 PRISONERS.

SUCCESSFUL CONTINUATION OF THE OFFENSIVE.

ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE ROAD TO LEMBERG.

VILLAGES AND FORTIFIED POSITIONS STORMED.

A Russian communique states: We are successfully continuing the offensive in the direction of Zloczov, a town 35 miles to the north-west of Tarnopol, on the Tarnopol'-Lemberj railway. We captured yesterday 6300 officers and men, 21 guns, 16 machine-guns, and several minethrowers. Prisoners continue to come from south-east of Brzezany, west of TarnopoL Fifty-three officers and 2200 men were captured on Sunday.

A later Russian communique states: After a severe battle yesterday, we occupied Presovoce, also strongly-fortified' positions on the heights west and south-west of Zborov and the fortified village of Korshiduv. We penetrated three lines of trenches. The enemy retired across the Little Strypa. We captured a position west of Uzefuvka.

Zborov is about twenty miles north of the scene of the previous day's fighting, and standa on «* Tarnopol-Lemberg railway. The villages mentioned are near £?£££ is also on the railway, some 15 miles further on, and 40 miles from Lembere The Little Strypa, across which the Austrians have retreated, is a small stream which flows into the Strypa west of TarnopoL The Strypa itself flows into the Dniester.
