IN ENEMY COUNTRIES.
RIOTING IN BUDA PESTH ATTACK ON TISZA'S CLUB. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Reuter. AMSTERDAM, July 1. Accounts in German papers of the franchise demonstration in Buda Pesth state that a mob attacked Count Tisza's club for an hour with stones, demanding that Count Tisza should come out. Afterwards the rioters destroyed a number of tramcars. Troops dispersed the crowds.
AUSTRIA'S FOOD PROBLEM.
MARTIAL LAW PROCLAIMED. A. and N.Z. Cable. BERNE. July 1.
Rioters in Buda Pesth wrecked and plundered 200 shops, including 80 cafes. Martial law was proclaimed, and the riots were suppressed.
The President of the Austrian Food Board admits that the hay crop is a bitter failure, and that the prospects of the maize crop are gloomy.
