THE RUGBY GAME. MILITARY MATCH. / A good crowd gathered at Eden Park on Sat. urday to witness the match between the representatives of A Company. 28th reinforcements, and a team from the Maori reinforcement camp. No fault could be found with the game from the point of view of pace, both sides exhibiting "the fitness which comes from life in camp, but the combination of neither team was all that it might have been. The A Company team won by 16 points to 0, which l was rather more than the difference between the two sides. UNIVERSITY. The outcome of the meeting Between University and Grafton at the Show Ground was a rather unexpected win for the latter team by 9 points to 6. . Gasparich scored another try for the blues, which O'Connor failed to convert. SECOND GRADE. Ponsonby beat Grammar School Old Boys by 20 points to 3. Parnell .defeated University A by 6 to 0. University B, 8, beat Grammar School Old Boys. '0.

Normal School Old Boys beat Grammar School Old Boys by 6 points to 8.

FOURTH GRADE. ' Normal School. Old Boys and Newton drew. 6 all. Manat Brothers Old Boys beat New Lynn by 10 to 3. Ponsonby. 14, beat Grafton, 0. ■

SECONDARY SCHOOL UNION. SENIOR GRADE. Sacred Heart played fully up to the expectations raised by their (tame against Grammar School, and defeated King s College by 15 points to 3. For the winners Dyer secured two tries, one it which he converted, while Goldwater scored an unconverted try and potted a goal from the' field. Macky scored for King's College. SECOND GRADE. Technical College beat King's College by 9 points to 5 Sacred Heart College. 8 points, beat Grammar School B. 3. Of Saturday's two senior matches in the Auckland Rugby League championship the most important was that between Ponsonby and City. Tho Ponsonby team continued on its victorious career, winning the game by 15 points to 11, after a match full of excitement. In the game played at Devonport, Newton defeated North Shore by 20 points to 13. PONSONBY V. CITY. Ponsonby and City met at Victoria Park, before a large gathering, of spectators. Ponsonby got into their stride first, and put on five points, Cross kicking a penalty gonl and Jones scoring a try, which was not converted. The same team,then continued to press a first-class attack, resulting in Rae getting over. Cross succeeded with the kick. City then became moro definitely aggressive, and Sutton forced his way over in a good try, whioh was not converted. Just before halftime Cross kicked another penalty goal for Ponsonby. ■ The second half saw City trying hard to get the decision. A good passing bout ended in Clarke scoring, but the try 'was not converted. City then drew up very olose. Davidson scoring a to which he himself added the major points, and the scores were but one point apart. "NORTH SHORE. . The game between North Shore and Newton, played at Devonport, was noticeable for the way in which both sides kept pace with one another in scoring for the greater part of the tune. The home team began with a converted fay, scored by Nicholson, and converted by W. Matthews. G. Isles and Potior then did a like service for the visitors. A penalty goal to North Shore by W. Matthews, was followed by a try fo» Newton by Castles. Then Neighbour scored a try for the home v team, and Potier. by kicking a penalty goal for the visitors, put the scores level, the first spell ending with that position. Early in tho second well Potier gained, two more points fori Newton by another''goal. Bailey then put' North Shore ■ again in the lead by a try, which was not converted. This was the last score for the home team. Cloke scored a try for Newton, which Potior converted, and Williams added three further points, which were not-improved upon. GRADE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Playing in the Auckland Football Association's championships on Saturday. Everton beat North Shore by 2 goals to 1 .after an even and interesting game. Richmond, playing short, was beaten by Brotherhood by 8 to 1. Wild Rose took the bye. EVERTON V. NORTH SHORE. Everton and North Shore met at Devonport. The former team was not long in getting to work, a nice movement clone on the kick-off resulting in Hodgson accepting a pass from Webster and rcgisterinii: the first goal of the match. North Shore attacked, but were beaten back, and Evorton again looked dangerous. North Shore then came back on the attack again, and, i'ewitt succeeded with a neat shot, putting the scores all square. The remainder of the spell was noticeable for a couple of good attacks by Everton. but half-time sounded with the sides still on an equality. The second spell was marred by the downpour of rain which commenced. An opportunity to Everton' came from a penalty resultant upon Webster being fouled. Hillcoat. who tool: the kick, beat the goalkeeper, placing what proved to be the winning goal.
