ST. PAUL'S ANGLICAN CHURCH

The twenty-third aaniversary of : % lay- .;'■■ ing of the foundation-stone of St.- Paul's Anglican Church," Syraonds ■ Street, " : was;£ celebrated ' yesterday, when special services were held. Particular interest ; attaches to St. Paul's by reason' of the fact that it is the oldest Anglican parish C in the city. -The first St. Paul's Church - was erected on '. a site near Fort Britomart, and was built soon after Auckland ■;:■;: became the capital of the then colony of J. New Zealand. Its foundation-stone was.' laid by Governor Hanson. This site proved inconvenient, and an exchange of |' land was effected. On Monday, June 11, 1894, i the then -■. Governor, i the Earl oflf Glasgow, laid the foundation-stone of the present building, or rather the stone which had been placed in ' position in the old church building by Captain . Yesterday's services commenced with &£ celebration of the Holy " Eucharist at 8 fi.es. > Mattins were read 'at 10,15 a.m. by the vicar, the Bev.O.' A. tB.
