FOOD SUPPLIES FOR ALLIES
SHIPMENT REACHES FRANCE.
WASHINGTON, June 7.
The United States collier Jupiter has firrived in France with 10,500 tons of foodstuffs.
Addressing a conference of members of the Senate, Mr. Wilson urged that the passage of food measures should be hastened, as the allies' needs were pressing. Legislation was necessary owing to the danger of European nations securing options on future crops.
ASSISTANCE TO BELGIUM.
FURTHER LOAN EXPECTED. WASHINGTON, Juno 7. Belgium will soon send a commission to the United States under Baron Moncheur to extend thanks to America for her assistance. The United States has lent tc Belgium £15,000,000, and it is likely that Belgium will ask for further assistance.
