BOWLING.

WEST END CLUB. . The annual meeting of the West End Bowling Club took place in the club's social hall on Tuesday evening, there being a large attendance of members present. Mr. A. C. Tonkin presided, and in presenting the report and statement of accounts complimented the members upon a most successful year. The club was well represented in the various tournaments held during the season, including the Dominion tournament hold at Wellington. The club had during the season Buffered the loss of a popular and esteemed member in the late Mr. R. H. Swales. Two members—Messrs. F. Court and T. Horner— had enlisted. Tho election of officers for the season 1917-18 resulted: President, Mr. J. W. Hardleyj vice-presidents. Messrs. P. Darby and J. Colthurst; committee, Messrs. C. Takle, R. Noton. B. Whitten, E. White, G. McMillan; secretary. Mr. W. A. Cooke; treasurer, Mr. I. Clarke: green superintendent. Mr. C. V. Langsford; solo selector, Mr. J. Beeroft (re-elected): auditors, Messrs. Gray and H. Horsley; delegates to Auckland Centre, Messrs. C. v. Langsford, A. C. .Tonkin, A. Coutts; reporter, Mr. George Kirkham. Trophies worn presented to the following winners in the club contests-— Championship singles, Mr. R. Noton; handicap pairs. Messrs. A. Thomson and R. Scott: club fours, Messrs. W. Bfttts, G. Hardley, C. V. Langsford, A. Le Ouesne; New Year "tournament, Messrs. T. Price, A. Ie Quesne. E. White. R. Scott; first-year championship. Mr. J. May. who received a cup presented by Mr. R. Reid. During the season tho club played two matches with Pukekohe for th» Anzic Challenge Cup. winning both events. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the ladies, the press and outgoing officers. Mr. ,T. W. Swales wag the recipient of a handsome nautical clock in recognition of past services to the club.. ELLERSLIE CLUB.
