WAIHI SETTLERS.
[BY mEQBAPH.—OWN COHaKSPONDSNT,] WAIHI. Thursday. The annual meeting of the Waihi Settlers Association was held this week, Mr. M. F. Haszard presiding. The nolicy of the Government in having a huge area of ground held under national endowment was c 00,% demned as a deterrent to the Dominion's progress, and, as far'as Waihi was concerned, discouraged the thrift of settlers. It was decided to send delegates to the next meeting of jfche Ohinemuri County Council to urge assistance towards the maintenance of the Waihi Beach Road and the erection of the Victoria Street Bridge across the Ohinemuri River. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as under :— President, Mr. M. F. Haszard; vice-presi-dent, Mr. E. A. Clark; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. E. Slevin; committee, Messrs. Harris, Hayr, Munro, Samuel Thompson, Sydney Thompson, Wells, J. G. Cornes and C. Hands.
