I The Wnnganui meeting was brought to a I conclusion to-day in showery weather, which | I with heavy rain overnight made the track | . very heavy. The state of going upset cal- ] culations in some cases, but the racing was | of an interesting description, good fields and capital finishes being the order. I On the strength of his fine finishing effort I on the first day Potentiality was entrusted 1 with most money in tho opening event, and | the son of Multifid duly won from Chak- . i wana. Lightning was going so well at half- i 1 distance that many thought she would win, but she lost her chance by slipping. Another Aucklander in Torotoro was also unlucky in being badly left, but got up fourth. > Johnny Walker followed up his success on the first day by scoring from eight others in the Balgownie Hack Handicap, I beating Rio nicely after a good set-to up i the straight. The son of Martian is evil dently a cut above the average. Czaronns was made a good favourite for the Grandstand Steeplechase, but fell after going half-a-mile. Silver Monarch and Styrax also came to grief, while Papatere stopped. Marton won fairly comfortably 3 at the end from Nita. The latter ran a I good game race, but the winner was too : good in the heavy going. Marton lost a [ j lot of ground at the first obstacle through ! being blocked, and he looked hopelessly > ! beaten, but, jumping in fine style, he out--3 I stayed the others. This was Marten's first > win since the spring. Grey Guard shaped well to-day. his jumping being excellent, 1 and he might win a race at Ellerslie. Jackman showed that he is coming back to his best form. Kohinchina won tho Hack Hurdles from a big outsider in Waioture. Montana might have won had he not hit a hurdle hard, 5 by which he lost a lot of ground, but 1 finished fast. Bon Rove scored in the May Hurdles like a champion. The Boniform gelding was a long way back half-a-mile from home, but ran past the field at a great pace and won comfortably from Leonta. The latter improved on Thursday's showing, and he will do even better next start, as _ racing will do him good. Otter ran a big race for over a mile, but fell a-auarter of a mile from home. Gang Awa' proved that his win in the Connolly Handicap was no fluke by scoring in the Empire- Handicap, for which he was most fancied. Kauri King made a great e race of it. the pair clearing out from the rest of tho field. Cherry Blossom ran well r for three parts of the journey. g The Farewell Handicap was won by Endure, full brother to Expect. This was his first win. He was bracketed with d Pohehe. Tho latter led to the distance where Endure came again and gallopec

homo very attractivoly. Johnny Walker and Gang Awa won a double each at the meeting. Nita leaves for Auckland on Tuesday. She had two hard races here, and may not start in the Great Northern Steeplechase, hut be reserved for tho third day. All depends on how she is on arrival at Ellerslie. By an oversight Bon Reve's connections failed to pay up for him in the Great Northern Hurdle Race. He must have been very hard to beat on form here. FORBURY TROTTING CLUB. CONCLUDING DAY OF MEETING. [by TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN. Saturday. The Forbury Park Trotting Club's meeting was concluded to-day. , The track was again heavy. The totalisator investments wero £17,146 10s. as compared with £21.424 10s for the same day last year, making a total of £29.220 for the meeting, compared with £37.958 last year.
