DAYLIGHT SAVING REPEAL. UNSUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT. A. and N.Z. Cable. MELBOURNE. May 26. The Federal Cabinet has decided to repeal the Daylight Saving Bill when-the House meets in July.

DISPOSAL OP WHEAT. INTER-STATE CONFERENCE. (Received 11 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 26. Tho Premiers' Conference decided to appoint a committee representative of the Federal and State Governments, in conjunction with experts, to deal with wheat storage and shipping questions. Mr. Hughes estimates that next harvest will produce an exportable surplus of wheat of at least 6,000,000 tons. PAPUAN OIL FIELDS. PROSPECTS FAVOURABLE. . MELBOURNE. May 26. The Government oil expert has returned from Papua. He reports favourably on tho prospects of tho establishment of a valuable oil _ industry. The fields cover 2000 miles. Seven bores are already down, and they have generally struck oil of the highest quality. The prospects are good. WELFARE OF CHILDREN. CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS. SYDNEY, May 26. . The Children's 'Welfare Conference to-day passed resolutions in favour of establishing day nurseries in populous suburbs; an anti-shouting bill, with a view to decreasing the evils duo to drunkenness affecting child life; the formation of an association so as to make permanent the decisions of the conference. The superintendent of the Stato Children's Department, dealing with illegitimacy, said that if many babies wore to survive the critical period of infancy, they must be well paid for by the State, the pay.
