OPTIMISTIC VIEW OF THE RUSSIAN SITUATION.
I ME. WILL THOME'S IMPRESSIONS OF A VISIT. MATERIAL IMPROVEMENT DURING PAST WEEKS. Australian and N.Z. Cable. (R«c«iTed 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. May 05. Mr. Will Thome, Labour member for West Ham, has arrived from Russia. He said that when he reached Russia the military situation was gloomy and the political situation inexplicable, but there had been material improvement in consequence of the British delegates' active propaganda, M. Kerensky, who was primarily responsible for the Coalition, is one of the most popular and strongest men in modern Russia, whose influence should reassure the allies. Mr. Thome said he} was more than ever hopeful of the military and political situation.
