ACCIDENTAL DEATHS.
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING, MAORI KILLED INSTANTLY. [M TELEGRAPH. —OWN' COURESroXDENT.] KAWAKAWA. Saturday. A native named Matui Harawera was killed by lightning at Akerana, near Hukerenui, yesterday. He was working in a field, and, on the approach of a thunderstorm, took refuge under 3 tree. The tree was shattered by lightning, and, Harawera was killed instantly. ■ j s FLAXMILL FATALITY, [nt telegraph.—own- cormspoxbekt.] HAMILTON. Saturday. The- adjourned inquest concerning the death of Patrick Nolan, who was killed in a flaxmill near Mercer recently, wag ' concluded this morning. The verdict re. turned was that deceased met his death by being struck on the head by a nut which was protruding about half an inch, on the outside of the belting attached to the engine. DEATH BY DROWNING. FATALITY AT WELLINGTON. An unidentified man, apparently & waterside worker, fell into the Wellington Harbour from one of the quay? on Fndar evening. Hearing cries for help, a ronth named Russell hurried to the quay and threw the Harbour Board's emergency cork-floats, with long lino attached, to ih'„ struggling man. The floats foil alongside him but he paid no heed i-. them and when, a little later, the bndv wa hauled ashore, life proved to b? extinct. Th« man was apparently about 50 \ftars of a"a.
