NO SALE FOR STEAMERS.
BOTH BUILT IN AUCKLAND. BID OF £30 NOT ACCEPTED. [BY TELEGRAM. ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. The steamers Huia and, Putiki were offered for sale by auction to-day on account of the Wellington and Wanganui Steam Packet Company, which is voluntarily liquidating. No offer .was received fur the Putiki. Only two bids, of £25 anil £30 respectively, were mhde for the Huia. Both vessels wero passed in.
The Huia, a vessel of 127 tons, was built in 1878, by R. H. Yeoman, of Auckland, and fitted with engines made by Masefield and Co., also of Auckland. The Putiki, 409 tons, was built by Seager and Co., of Auckland, in 1904, and engined by Robertson and Co., of Wellington.
