A -ttonof? in favour of granting Horns Rule to Ireland, and asking the Governor to forward the message to the Imperial authorities, was proposed at last eveniag's meeting of the City Council by Mr. J. McCombs, M.P. The Mayor, Mr. H Holland, ruled that such a motion vu ?■ out of order, whereupon Mr. McCombs ' moved "That the council disagree with the Mayor's ruling." This motion was carried by eight votes to seven, upon which a number of councillors left the chamber. The Home Rule motion was finally carried in the form " That the council views with pleasure the resolution of the Imperial Government to make anether effort to settle the Irish problem and believes the winning of Irish etnfidence is of supreme- importance -to th» cause of Great Britain and her allies." :
