SINKING OF AMERICAN SCHOONER BY A SUBMARINE.
ENEMY COMMANDER REFUSES TO TELL HIS NATIONALITY Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. ROME, Feb. 15. The American Consul confirms the statement that an Austrian submarine sank the American schooner Lyman M. Law, of 1300 tons. This will increase the tension between Austria and America, and goes to prove that Austria is working in co-operation with Germany as to her submarine policy. (Received 7 p.m ) ROME. Feb. 15. The captain of the Lyman M. Law has sent a message to the American Consul that the commander of the submarine which sank the schooner refused to say whether the craft was German or Austrian. One of the crew of the submarine declared it was Austrian.
