GERMAN SUBMARINE AND AMERICAN STEAMER.
OIL DEMANDED WITH A THREAT OF SINKING. FIVE INEFFECTIVE SHOTS FIRED BY THE GERMANS. Australian and N.Z. Cable (Received 12.10 a.m.) LONDON, Feb, 6. The British Admiralty states that the captain ,of the American steamer Westwego reports that on January 31 a submarine.ineffectively fired five shots. The commander of the submarine demanded oil, and threatened to sink the vessel if it were refused.
