CENSUS RETURNS.
BIRKENHEAD'S POPULATION.
INCREASE OF 431 PERSONS.
The second return to hand in connection with the recent census is that tor the Borough of Birkenhead. It shows an increase in the population in the last five years of 431 persons, namely, 212 males and 219 females. The details of the returns for 1911 and 1916 are as follows:— 1916. 1911. Males 1.073 861 Females 1.061 842 2.134 1.703 BOROUGH OF DARGAVILLE. SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE REPORTED. [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DARGAVILLE, Tuesday. The census enumerator reports that the population of the Borough of Dargavilie consists of 1780 persons, comprising 897 females and 883 males. This shows an increase of 388 over the estimated population as at April 1, 1915.
