RISING FOOD PRICES.
SCOTTISH MINERS' DEMAND.
CONTROL BY GOVERNMENT.

The Scottish National Miners' Union passed a resolution affirming that unless the Government controls food prices a serious national calamity will result. The union is endeavouring to organise all labour forces with a view to forcing the Government to take action. Mr. R. Smillie, the president, declared that unless Labour rebelled the Government would pay no attention to them-

A conference of South Wales miners carried a, resolution similar to that adopted by the Scottish miners. They propose a national stoppage in the event of the Government failing to take immediate action
