INCREASE IN FREIGHTS.
Some fairly broad hints have been thrown out by those representing overseas shipping companies of the increases of Homeward freights all round. Cheese freights were last week advanced to j}d per lb. That was done by the Imperial Board of Trade, which controls tho insulated space. Rates for hemp and tow were advanced from 140s to 200s and from 160s to 260s per ton respectively. Wool freights are expected to be substantially raised. They are usually fixed for the season in October, but they are likely to have been settled on by now.
