BRITISH CENSORSHIP.
PROTEST BY UNITED STATES OPENING OF OFFICIAL MAIL. A. and N.Z. Cable. WASHINGTON. Sept. 17. The United States Government has protested to Great Britain against the opening by the censor at Vancouver of the United States official mail from naval officers at Shanghai and Hongkong. ULTERIOR MOTIVE DENIED. LONDON. September 17. The Secretary of State for War, Mr. Lloyd George, denies that the censorship is used to take advantage of trade secrets.
