EARLY SETTLER'S DEATH.
Mrs. W. S. Bbyce, of Auckland, whose death occurred yesterday, had been a resident in the provincial district for over 50 years. With her husband she landed here in 1861, having come out from Glasgow. Mr. Bryce, who survives her, is a printer by trade, and worked for some years on the staff of the Daily Southern Cross. In the early days of the Thames goldfield Mr. Brvce removed to Thames, where he worked as a compositor on the Thames Advertiser, finally returning to the Herald staff, where he remained as compositor and proof-reader for the rest of his active life. The deceased also leaves two sons and one married daughter.
