STORM AT WANGANUI.

«•> The linking of (he old dredge at Wanganui, as a result of the recent storm, is the last of a series of disasters by which the Wanganui Harbour Board has lost practically the whole of its plant. The other dredge belonging to the. same boay was blown out to sea, so that for the last few months the board has had to work with only one dredce. The old dredge was valued at about. £7000. Until steps are taken to raise the vessel, the fairway to the Castlecliff Wharf will be rendered highly unsafe, though the passage tip tM river to town is still left open. The salvage operations will commence almost immediately- The dredge will probably be raised by means of pumps until she is lifted sufficiently to allow of her being pumped out. The task is a heavy one, but it is not anticipated that it will be exceptionally difficult.
