IRISHMEN IN THE ARMY.

ALLEGED ENFORCEMENT. COMPLAINT IN COMMONS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.3 p.m.) LONDON. August 15. In the House of Commons, one of the Irish members complained that Irishmen temporarily resident in England had been forced to serve in the army. Mr. Hugh Law, Nationalist member for West Donegal, declared that ! such men had been arrested in ; droves and marched through the streets handcuffed. Mr- H. W. Forster, Financial Secretary to the War Office, said if it could be proved that migratory labourers had been improperly taken in the army no doubt they would be given an opportunity of obtaining their discharge.
