INTERNAL BORROWING.

REQUIREMENTS THIS YEAR.

POSSIBLY OVER £3.000,000.

[BY telegraph.—press association.]

WELLINGTON. Friday. The Minister for Finance. Sir Joseph Ward, stated in the House of Representatives to-night that the Government required to borrow £8,000.000, or possibly more, in the Dominion this year. Arrangements for advertising particulars, he said, had been completed, and advertisements would be published next week. The fact that it was necessary to raise all this money in the Dominion was proof, he said, that we were passing through abnormal times, and he cited this as one reason in favour of the postponement of the Parliamentary elections.
