SUFFERINGS OF PEOPLE.
POOR HARVEST PROSPECTS. Times. LONDON. August 3. The latest evidence indicates that the German harvest will not last till the spring. The population is now suffering severely, and is waiting for the harvest to be gathered in. Thousands of poor in the large cities are living on potatoes and sugar. There is the greatest searcity of soap and leather, and some necessaries, but it is believed that Germany can hold out economically for many months.
