JEAN WEBSTER'S DEATH.

AUTHOR OP "DADDY-LONG-LEGS."

The news of the death of Jean Webster (Mrs. Glen Ford McKinney) will be received with sorrow by numerous readers in the Dominion. She excelled as a writer of short stories, and her charming and popular book, ''Daddy Long-Legs," has had a very large circulation. She was married a year ago to Mr. McKinney, a well-known lawyer. She was born on July 24, 1876, and was, therefore, 39 years of age. Her mother was a sister of the late Mark Twain. Miss Webster was a graduate of Vassar College in the class of 1901. She wrote many popular novels whilst travelling round the world with her uncle, Mark Twain, and her writings showed much of his influence. Her greatest success, however, was " Daddy Longings, " : and this book alone will keep her memory green for years to come.
