WELLINGTON, Friday. TTigttres showering the revenue and expenditure of the Dominion for the three months ended June 30, were quoted by Sir Joseph Ward to-day. The total revenue for last quarter was £5,091,210, as compared with £2.747,751 for April June, 1915. Eight departments showed increases last quarter aggregating £383,254, whilst five departments showed decreases totalling £39,795. the net increase thus being £343,459. "Railway revenue last quarter reached £1,106,969. compared with £952.294 for the 1915 period, the increase being £154,675. The other principal inCreases were: Stamp and death duties. £81,675; Post and Telegraph. £76.081: Customs, £41.553. Land tax fell from £24.599 to £3009. a decrease of £21.590.
The expenditure for the past quarter shows a total increase of £156.025 in ten departments and a. total decrease of £148,534 in six departments, thus leaving a net increase of £7491 as compared with tie corresponding quarter of 1915. The principal increases were:—Education, £59,775 ; Defence, £23.628; and Internal Affairs, £20.164. The chief decreases ■x e re:—Postal and Telegraphs, £82.614; Railways, £40,862. The expenditure for tie two quarters was as follows: —April - Jane, 1915, £2,960,434; April-June, 1916. £2,967,925.
