A letter was received from 5 Colonel Porter, C.8., Dominion commandant of the National Reserve, statins that the club's action in withdrawing its * application for recognition as a naval f branch of the National Reserve was a prudent one. The letter also stated that the rules and regulations for the National Reserve did not apply properly to the volunteer naval branches. The chairman reported that he had waited on Captain Rust, officer commanding No. 1 group, in regard to the duties required to be carried out by the club as laid down by the Defence Department. Captain Rust had supplied him with the necessary «• data, and promised to do all he could to assist the club. The Penrose rifle range was now at the disposal of the club, and also rifles, ammunition and railway passes. It was decided to hold the first shooting match at Penrose on July 8, and every four weeks thereafter. Meetings will be held at the Drill Hall on alternate Thursdays. The subject for next meeting will be a lecture on seamanship, by Captain Fox. Mr. W. Ellerington was appointed to take charge of the rifle range, and Sergeant Fricker to attend to the ' drill and signalling. The club has been reorganised, and yachtsmen not members are invited to attend at the next parade on July 6,
