WHANGAREI BOROUGH.
DECISIONS OF THE COUNCIL. At the last meeting of the Whangarei Borough Council a discussion took place upon the question of remitting rates upon Kensington Park. The A. and P. Association, which owns the park, has pointed out to the council that the grounds are practically public property. The council decided nob to, grant any remission. . It was resolved that the council when preparing the next estimates consider a' grant towards the improvement: of the Whangarei-Dargaville Road. It was de-1 cided to put down a new water main in Princes Street at a cost of ; £7s. A request for the tarring of a footpath in Maunu Koad was refused, the council deciding to tar no new footpaths this year. The North I Auckland Farmers' Co-operative, Ltd '' was granted an extension of six months time in which to place its stable in order Complaints were made as to the condition of the borough pound, and it was resolved that the Works Committee re™ to next meeting. The infrequent lemoval of mghtsoil in various parts of the borough is to be inquired into. The report of the abattoir manager showed that during the month six animals were condemned as unfit for consumption The engineer reported that good progress was being made with the erection of the electric power station and the mortuary It Was- resolved to grant persons outside the borough sewerage connections upon payment of 0. per annum. The trees in Mander Park is to be undertaken at once, the Works Committeeman * em powered to draw up a scheme. °
