GERMANS IN TURKEY.
MAINTAINING THEIR RULE.
The position of the Germans at Constantinople is said by Mr. J. M. N Jeffries, the British war correspondent at Athens, to be still strong, but with typical thoroughness two German liner* the Corcovado and the General, are always k ept in readiness to embark the Austro-Germans in case of necessity. Th-> Germans have lately been sending to Constantinople many Russian uniforms captured m Poland, and with these the Turks are being re-equipped. There is a great shortage of doctors in the Turkish Army and a lack of quinine, which is much felt. * Of ten , Deutsche Levant© Line boats which took refuge at Constantinople at the beginning of the war, only the Tenedos, according to information I have received, now remains.
