THE LEAGUE GAME.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR SATURDAY.

A special meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby League was held on Monday evening, under the chairmanship of Mr. E. Benson. Other members present were: Messrs. A. W. Tatton. J. Endean, R. McDonald, C. Baker, T. Fielding, and R. A. Spinle'y. '' I It was reported that six clubs had definitely nominated a senior team each, and in view of this fact it was deemed inadvisable to accede to the suggestion that a senior team should be entered by the newly-formed Garrison Artillery ' Club because of possible weakening of existing clubs. It was decided to offer the new organisation affiliation as a junior club. The Auckland Dramatio and Vaudeville Employees' Association wrote asking the assistance of the league in its efforts to raise £3000 for the equipment of the Children's Hospital. The meeting decided to give the association the proceeds of a special match to be played at Victoria Park towards the end of June The Telegraph Messengers Club wrote nominating a team for the sixth grade, and . the secretary was instructed to make the necessary arrangements for affiliation. At the request of the Otahuhu Club the committee decided to make representations to the Railway Department to again allow a [ special train to be run for the accomrnodaI tion of football players, spectators, and the general public to Otahuhu on Saturday after--1 noons during the coming season. I An offer was received from a local archiI tect to draw, free of fees, designs for the | grandstands of the new ground, and to generally supervise the work. It was announced to the meeting that a member of the committee. Mr. J. Erdean, had offered a set of caps for the champions of the sixth grade, and the offer was gratefully accepted. The committee decided to issue vice-presi-dents' passes to vice-presidents of the various clubs in accordance with the practice of the past. . , ~ The draw for the first senior games of the season, which will be held on Saturday, re- | suited as follows: — . Ponsonby United v. City Rovers. No. 1 ground. Victoria Park, referee Mr. S Weston : Newton Rangers v. Grafton Athletic, No. 2 ground, Victoria Park. Mr. W. Murray; Otahuhu v. North Shore Albion, at Otahuhu, Mr. T. Fielding. Each game will start at 3 p.m.

OTAHUHU CLUB. At. a meeting of the Otahuhu Football Club's committee on Monday evening Mr. W. Graham, who for the past two seasons has been chairman of the committee, tendered his resignation owing to ill-health. Many of those present spoke in highest terms of the services rendered to the club by Mr. Graham, and his resignation was received with regret. _ The election of a chairman for the ensuing year resulted in the appointment of Mr. J. O'Connell. In reviewing the names of those who are expected to participate on the club's be"hali in the senior grade competition, the chair man said that it was gratifying to note that only three men eligible for military service were included, and these were all registered and waiting to be called up. Of the remainder, six were married men with families, two were permanent force men, and four were under military age.
