City Council in pursuance of its powers under "The Municipal Corporation's Act, 19C8," "The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, .1909," "The Rating Act, 1908," "The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Act, 1908." " The Rating on Unimproved Values Act. 1908," and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, intends on THURSDAY, the 18th day of May. 1916, to make and levy the following rales, via.:— IN RESPECT OF THE PORTION OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND, KNOWN AS THE DISTRICT OF EDEN TERRACE, for the period commenced on the Ist day. of April, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of May. 1916, 1. A General Rate at the rate of One Shilling and Fourpence (Is 4d) in the £ per annum; 2. A Library Rate at the rate of One Penny (Id) in the £ per annum; 3. A Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate at the rate of Threepence (3d) in the £ per annum; 4. A Sanitation Rate at the rate of Twopence (2d) in the £ per annum; 5. A Drainage Rate at the rate of Fivepence (od) in the £ per annum; upon the annual ratable value of all property (calculated at 6 per centum on the capital value in terms of the agreement lor amalgamation) as appearing in the Valuation Roll for the time being in .force in the Eden Terrace District of the City of Auckland. The said rateß to be payable in each case in one sum on the 19th day of May, 191 G. at the Municipal Offices. Town Hall, Auckland, to J. Sylvester Brigham, the Council's Collector, or to such other person as may be from time to time appointed to collect the same. IN RESPECT OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND (excluding the' District of Grey Lynn) for the year commencing on the Ist day of June, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of May,' 1917, 1. IN RESPECT OF THE PORTION OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND KNOWN AS THE DISTRICT OF GREY LYNN, for the year commencing on' the lit day of June, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of May, 1917, 1. A General Rate of Twopence and Fivetwelfths of a Penny (25-12 d) in the £on the . Unimproved Value; 2. A Hospital md Charitable Aid Rate of ' One-sixth of a Penny (l-6d) in the £ on the Capital Value; 3. A Drainage Rate of One-fifth of a Penny (Md) in the £ on the Capital Value of all ratable property in the Grey Lynn District of the City of Auckland as appearing in the Valuation Roll for the time being in force therein. The said rates - to be payable in etch case in one sum on the Ist day of June, 1916. at the Municipal Offices.. Town Hall, Auckland, to J. Sylvester Brigham, the Council's Collector, or to such other - person as may be from tithe to lime api pointed to collect the same, The estimates upon which the whole of the 1 above rate* are being struck having been , approved by the Council, are open for ini spection at the Town Clerk's Office, Town i Hall, between 9.20 a.m. and 4 p.m. on all [ business days of the week, except Saturdays, , when'they shall'be open for inspection'be- - tween the hours of 9.30 a.m. and 12 noon. WATER RATES. And notice is further given that the Auckland City Council in pursuance of its . powers under "The Municipal Corporations , Act. 1908." "The Rating Aot, 1908," "The Rating on Unimproved Values Act,. 1908,'' , and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf intends on THURSDAY, the 18th day , of May, 1916, to Make and Levy the following Water Rates:— In * respect of the portion of the City of • Auckland known as the District of Eden Terrace for the period commenced on the Ist day of April, 1916, and ending on the 31st • day of May, 1917, in respect of the ordinary supply:— Upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied whose annual ia.l»ble value i calculated at 6 per centum on the capital ■ value in terms of the Agreement for Amalgamation as appearing on the valuation Roll. Does not exceed twelve pounds ten shillings, - a rate of ten shillings (IDs). Exceeds twelve pounds ten shillings, but does not exceed one hundred pounds, a rate , of two and a-half per centum (2} per cent.) on such value, provided that in no case shall the minimum amount of such rate be ; less than ten shillings (10s). ■■.'/.•.> Exceeds one hundred pounds, rate of two , per centum (2 per cent.) on such value. Upon -all lands and •.buildings;- to which [water can .be but -is not. supplied, Situate • within one ' hundred yards from any part ol the waterworks, a Tate of one-quarter per centum ({ per cent.) on the annual ratable value. Upon all buildings used as etorea or. warehouses or for any purpose other tnan as dwellinghouses,' a rate of one per centum (1 per cent.) upon the annual ratable value, provided that .when the supply to hydraulic lifts in such buildings'is wholly paid for by meter this shall not be levied upon such buildings. The said rates to be payable in one sum on the 19th May. 1916. at the Municipal Offices, Town Hall, to J. Sylvester Brigham, the Council's Collector, or to such other person as may be from time to time appointed to collect the same. IN RESPECT OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND, excluding therefrom the District of Grey Lynn, for the year commencing on the 4st day of July and ending on the ,30th day of June, 1917, In respect of the ordinary supply:— Upon all lands and buildinirs to which water is supplied whose annual, ratable ' value, as appearing on the Valuation Roll, [ does not exceed twelvo pounds ten shillings, i a rate of ten shillings (10s). The said rates to be payable in each case in two equal instalments, the first upon the Ist day of July. 1916. and the second upon the 3rd day of January. 1917. at the Municipal Offices. Town . Hall, Auckland, to J. Sylvester . Brigham, the Council's Collector, or to such, other person as may be. from time to time appointed to collect the same. IN REBPECT OF THE PORTION OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND KNOWN AS THE DISTRICT OF GREY LYNN, for the year commencing on the Ist day of July, 101 C. and ending on the. 30th day of June, 1917. In respect of the Ordinary Supply upon properties to which water is supplied- whose ratable value in terms of "The Rating Act, 1694," does not exceed £12 10s, ten shillings per annum. , Exceeds £12 10s but does not exceed £20, 6 per cent, per a mum. Exceeds £20. but does not exceed £30. fij per cent, per annum, but not lens for ar,y tenement than £1 <b par annum. \ Exceeds £30 but does not exceed £40. 4) per <*nt. per annum, but not less for any tenement than £1 13s per annum. Exceeds £40 4t per cent. per annum, but not less for any tenement than £1 l(>s per annum; loss an allowance of one-B.\xth from the gross amount in each case in terms of the Deed of Amalgamation. Upon all buildings used as dwellings only' to which water can be but is not supplied, situate within 100 yds from any ' part of the waterworks constructed by and now vested in the Corporation, a rate of one-half of tho rates abovementioned.
