VALEDICTORY SOCIAL.

A largely-attended and successful social and dance was given in Shaw's Hall, at Titirangi, on Easter Monday evening by Mr. and Mrs. W. Bishop, as a farewell to theft nephew. Sergeant J. J. Bishop, ' of the thirteenth reinforcements, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Bishop, and formerly headmaster of the Kaitaia school. The programme consisted of dancing, with musical items interspersed. Mr. C. Jenkins acted as M.C. • Supper was served in the Titirangi tea kiosk,, which was tastefully decorated. After the toast of The King," given by Mr. W. Bishop, Mr. C. Jenkins proposed the health of Sergeant Bishop, wishing him all success at the front. The toast was drunk with musical honours, and suitably acknowledged by Sergeant Bishop. The health of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Bishop was -proposed by Mr. C. Murphy, who referred t> the fact that the parents of the principal guest of the evening were parting from two soldier-sons, their second son—Sergeant T. A. Bishop— a member of the twelfth reinforcements. Mr- J. J. Bishop respouded. Mr. J. Armstrong proposed the health of Messrs. E. Williams, Shaw, and Tarlin. who arc shortly to go into camp at Trentham.
