EXCHANGE OF FLAGS.
PETONE AND HORNSBY, RECRUITS FROM RAILWAYS. Sydney, April 26. The State Governor, Sir Gerald Strickland, unfurled a -New Zealand flag received in the exchange of flags between Hornsby and Petone railway workshop employees. Mr. H. C. Hoyle, a member of the State Ministry, said the railwaymen had enlisted in such numbers that the Department was compelled to call a halt. The New Zealanders fought nobly side by side with the Australians, who were proud of the New Zealanders, and everyone who passed the flag should raise his hat.
