FIRE IN THE CITY.
TRADERS' STOCK BURNED, MOTOR WORKSHOP GUTTED. GARAGE ENDANGERED. A fire occurred at 1.45 this morning in a brick building in Victoria Quadrant, as a result of which the whole of the stock of the Tasman Pure Food Company was destroyed. The fire had a good hold when the alarm was given, for the flames had burst through the roof. The fire spread to the adjoining premises, occupied by Messrs, Long Bros., motor mechanics. In this were three valuable cars, which were not damaged much, beyond what can be made good by a coat of paint. At one time Honning's motor garage, at the rear of Messrs. Long's workshop, was endangered, but the damage was confined to a small portion of the roof. The interior of the two premises was burnt out.
