FIFTEENTH REINFORCEMENTS

EIGHTY MEN LEAVE AUCKLAND.

The Auckland military district was asked to send 92 men to make up the district's shortages in the 15th reinforcement draft. Notices were sent out calling up tho full number of men, but on the roll being called it was found there was a shortage of two infantry non-commissioned officers and ten infantrymen. The draft, consisting of one infantry non-commissioned officer and 79 of other ranks, including details of other arms, were despatched to the various training camps by yesterday's mid-day Main Trunk train. THE SIXTEENTH DRAFT.

The weekly progress return issued by tho Defence authorities yesterday shows that up to Wednesday night a total of 1093 recruits were fit and available for future reinforcement drafts. Of that number 77 aro prospective non-commissioned officers. An analysis of the return shows that 170 men havo been accepted in the Auckland military district during the past week.

A supplementary return indicates that 509 men, not including non-commissioned officers, aro available for the sixteenth reinforcements, 290 for tho seventeenth, and 113 for the eighteenth. These figures include all arms of the service. The infantry arm, however, requires men at the present time. The district's infantry quota is 485, and at present 326 men have expressed their willingness to proceed to camp with the draft which will leave Auckland on May 2. The district will require to find another 159 infantryman in a little over two weeks if the sixteenth draft is to leave at full strength.
