EXTRAVAGANT HOUSEWIVES.
RELiEF FOR SOLDIERS' FAMILIES.
[BT TELEGRAPH.—-OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington*, Thursday. At to-day's meeting of the War Relief Association, the chairman, in referring to local relief afforded to tho wives of soldiers on active service, stated that orders had been given to several for household necessities but the housekeepers had been found to be so extravagant that some other means must bo adopted of regulating the distribution of rations. In some cases it had been found that families had consumed as much in a week as they ordinarily would in a month. The proposal was that they should call on tho assistance of some ladies who would help them in the matter. This was agreed to.
