MUNICIPAL TRAWLER.
COWAN LEAVES SYDNEY. By Telegraph—Press Asiociation— (Received April 14, 1.15 a.m.) Sydney, April 13. Tot *t«am trawler Cowan, which lias, been purchased by the Auckland City Council, left to-day for Auckland.
At the City Council meeting last week the Public Services Committee reported that on the recommendation of Mr. C. C. Munro, an option was secured over the Cowan, a steamer built in 1914, length 90ft, breadth 18ft, depth 10ft 6in, speed Hi knots, and, with all fittings, including two lifeboats. The price wag £5600, including gear valued at £1000. Captain Hood was then despatched to Sydney to make a professional survey, and to advise further, and ultimately, on the reports and advices received, the committee cabled authority to purchase the Cowan at best possible price, subject to satisfactory inspection of hull, expressing a preference to dispense with unnecessary gear, but leaving this matter to tho judgment of the council's experts on the spot
