WAR CORRESPONDENT DEAD
RICHARD HARDING DAVIS.
By Telajraph—Press Association—Copyright. New York, April 12. The death is announced of Mr. Richard Hardini; Davis, at the age of 52 years. The cause of death was heart trouble.
Richard Harding Davis, American journalist, novelist, and playwright, was born at Philadelphia, in 1864. He was a son of. Rebecca Blaine Davis, and a * brother of Charles Belmont Davis, both of whom are well known as novelist*. M - of his novels were published bet' .< ■; 1899 and 1913, and he was also the am 1 >c of several plays. He was most active as a journalist between 1897 and 1905, when he acted successively as war correspondent for the London Times and the New York Herald during the GraceTurkish, Spanish-American, South African, and Russo-Japanese wars. Since the outbreak of the present war he has acted in a similar capacity for leading American and British newspapers.
