ONEHUNGA MAILS.
Sir,—Judging from my experience during the past fortnight, after an absence of many years, the Postal Department does not seem to have kept pice with requirements. . Tho steamer Tarawa _ .usually reaches Onehunga Wliari from Now Plymouth Breakwater between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 seldom so lato_ as this latter hour—and the disembarkation takes place immediately on arrival. If the mails meet with the same despatch, then, under ordinary circumstances, they should reach tlw Auckland Port Office by noon, and should bo ready for distribution by 2 p.m. But what is the case? For the past fortnight to my certain knowledge, within a mile of the city, they have not been delivered until the following day, and not alVays in the morning. It would seem that, under tho present condition of affairs, it takes a letter as long to travel from Onehunga to Auckland as from New Plymouth, or even Hawera. Suburban* Resident.
