CITY VALUATIONS.

HEARING OF OBJECTIONS.

MANY EDUCTIONS MADE.

The City Assessment Court held a sitting in the Town Hall yesterday to consider objections to the valuations made by the c:ty valuer, Mr. Edward Hickling. Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., presided. Mr. F. G. Ewington Mas called as an expert witness. Over 720 valuations had been formally objected to. Of these 109 had been reduced by consent, while 260 were sustained. Owners appeared with regard to 30 valuations that had been objected to. After evidence had been heard, 20 of these valuations were reduced, and 10 nero sustained.

Among the reductions made in the valuations were the following:—
